Where and how to find a job for veterans after serving in the army?

The head of the “Nova Peremoha” NGO talked about the problem of finding a job for military personnel returning from the war to peaceful life, and shared some resources that already help veterans find employment.

“I think many of us know people who had troubles returning to civilian life and finding a new job. Employment assistance plays an important role here, returning ex-servicemen to a peaceful existence, and sometimes actually saving their lives. We need to make maximum effort to save as many souls as possible and to return them to a stable life,” emphasized Serhiy Slychko.

The issue of finding a job for veterans is not new. It became relevant with the beginning of the war in Donbas, but now, when a full-scale war is going on, when hundreds of thousands of people are mobilized to the army, this problem will be much more acute. However, there are already resources and organizations that help war veterans find work in various ways. The more people know about them the better.

Let’s start with the Happy Monday career platform. There you can get recommendations for career development and assistance with finding the best job. The platform has a database of job openings for veterans and a list of companies that are ready to accept former military personnel. Also, the platform has a special project “There is a job for a veteran”, which can help veterans compile a resume, write a cover letter, apply for a job, and pass an interview.

The Veteran Hub organization also works in this direction. It is engaged in various types of counseling and support for veterans and their families. Thanks to the Hub, research on the needs of veterans is carried out, and guidelines for employment centers on how to interact with those who have returned from war have been created. In addition, the organization’s website has a list of up-to-date job openings.

Another organization worth noting is the Free People Employment Center. This is an initiative of employment assistance and social adaptation for people who lost their jobs due to the war and difficult economic situation.

A special project “Decent Job to the Warrior” was created to help war veterans. They help with writing professional resumes, preparing for interviews, they also give career guidance consultations, help with job searches, and conduct training courses. To become a participant of the program, you need to fill out a questionnaire. Work with participants is carried out individually.
