Winter in war conditions: how to prepare for emergency situations.
Serhiy Slychko, head of the “Nova Peremoha” NGO, shared practical advice on preparing for a difficult winter in wartime conditions.
“Winter is on the doorstep. We can only guess how it will go. But at a wartime, when enemy shelling is deliberately aimed at energy facilities, we have to be ready for anything. Especially city dwellers. If the situation gets worse, survival in the city will be more difficult.
We have prepared several simple but useful recommendations that will help you survive a difficult winter. For those directly affected by hostilities, these are not just tips, but steps to ensure survival,” emphasized Serhiy Slychko.
What to do if you’re left without any heating? First of all, you need to take care of insulation. We are not talking about expensive materials. These measures are available for everyone, and will help preserve the heat at home.
Seal the gaps on the windows and doors, adjust the tightness of closing the plastic windows. Gaps can be closed with transparent sealant, foam or even paraffin. In addition, the windows can be covered with improvised materials, and the outside covered with a film. If you have working central heating, you can increase its efficiency by placing insulation, such as aluminum foil, between the walls and the radiator.
